My next door neighbor's Audi Q3 was gnawed by rats - wiring in the engine compartment. Consumer Reports suggests buying the Honda OEM rodent-repellant tape to wrap the harnesses, but I think there's very little working room under the hood to expose and wrap wires. Does anyone have alternative ideas for warding off the critters?

Gray, I had the same experience, not rats but mice chewing on wiring. I didn't find a permanent solution, at home improvement store, I found some scent powder that mice smell as a predator, which turns out to be a form of a moth ball scent. So far so good, it's been two years without any problem.

Peppermint oil. Just a few drops here and there. They hate it. Apply as often as needed.
