We had a good dump of snow recently in Calgary, so first real test of winter capability for the All Track.

Usually, we keep the driving mode on Sport.

I tried the Off Road Mode, to get the 50/50 power distribution front/rear, but found an interesting issue.

When you go to Off Road Mode, the ASR off light comes on. (that is Anti Skid Reduction).

Why the heck would VW program a vehicle with light off road capability to turn off the ASR in Off Road Mode?

So, what is the best Driving Mode for Snow/Ice?

Or is it not worth worrying about? and just leave it in Sport Mode.

The best mode for snow driving is "Normal". The short-shifting limits torque which is what you want in the snow.

"Offroad" does not change to 50/50 distribution, the car is still basically FWD. ASR is turned off to allow wheel slippage on dirt. This is actually beneficial to keeping the car moving in loose terrain.
