Hey folks,

New here but thought I would post this to see if anyone has had similar problems.

I have a 2017 Alltrack 2.0 TDI DSG (184hp). It has been serviced as should be and given me troubles except usual, brakes, oil etc... has driven 80,000 miles.

However, driving home from work the engine just completely died(no warning lights or strange noises) pulled over but car would not restart. Called rescue truck and was towed to my local garage.

Very long story short, after a lot of searching, the garage has discovered the timing belt slipped and basically pistons et all are done, the only answer is to replace engine. Is this common? I find it crazy to have happened so early. The garage were also shocked. I live in Norway and cars and car maintenance is insane prices. The garage said them sourcing a second hand engine with same mileage would be cheaper than a rebuild. I am a very modest driver, so I am not racing it around and abusing the car.

Just curious to hear if anyone has experienced this kind of failure on these cars and if I do go ahead with new (second hand) engine is there anything I should be concerned about? Rest of the car is in great condition. Except the engine!

Cheers
