A recent service scan (after an oil change) showed a fault in the power steering harness, and a visual inspection suggests that rats have gnawed on wiring. The steering is still okay, but here's what's malfunctioning: 1) The dashboard says to check the oil sensor, 2) the calendar date doesn't advance, 3) the seat belt alarm is disabled, 4) the driver's side window convenience opening feature isn't active.
Questions: Can all of the faults be related to the power steering harness? What can be done to deter rodents? (I don't own an enclosed garage.)
For the latter, the dealer advised lavender in stockings, taped around the engine compartment.
