Car does not creep after letting go of brake

I bought a 2018 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack 132TSI 7.5 recently. When l leave the brake, car doesn't move. Only when I press accelerator, it starts moving. This is very different experience than cars I have driven before. But I am not sure whether its expected. I have heard that this is a behaviour with manual transmission cars. This car is auto. Its bit annoying when driving in a slow traffic or when parking. Before I get this further investigated by a mechanic, I wanted to check with community whether this is expected.

Actually, it was because `auto hold` was on. I turned that off and it looks all good now. Something to learn everyday. :)
