Wow that's really bad @cebuphilippines. Make sure they replace the liner too because there's probably mold up there.
Thanks for the info . I’ll mention it to them. I’m worried about the airbag will get wet and will not function properly and also the motor for the panoroof cover. But will include that one you said about molds on headliner .

Airbags should be fine, but you can always bring it up if you're concerned. Replacing the headliner is a good idea. Tell them you use the car to transport your kids and they'll probably do it without putting up a fight.

So disgusted with VW at this point! I was originally screwed by the diesel scandal. I took delivery on a new VW 2 days after the filing deadline for the settlement and was entitled to NOTHING! Signed the papers in time but the dealership wasn't ready to deliver the car until July 2, 2016. Deadline was June 28, 2016. I was loyal, held onto the car to see what VW was going to do and low and behold, I received nothing!

Now this leaking sunroof issue. I have a 2017 Alltrack which I leased after my 2016 Tiguan was totalled. I've had it for 1 1/2 years. After the past 2 rainstorms this Summer, I felt water pouring onto my left foot when I took a corner. I called the dealership yesterday who told me to bring it in. When I arrived, they had a loaner car ready for me and said "Yeah, this is an ongoing problem. We have to take the whole interior out, change the carpets, the headliner, etc... we'll have it for at least a week!" I told them they'd better change the wiring too because on my way over to the dealership all of my alarms were sounding, dashboard lights were coming on and when I got there, the push button ignition would not turn the car off! It's fried! Once again, VW is aware of a problem and not doing anything to correct it! Another lawsuit in their future perhaps? I can tell you, when this lease is up, NO MORE VW's for me!

Update on my 2017 sunroof leak:
VW replaced my car with a new 19 Alltrack which they let me order. It took a while but it came to me 5 weeks after it was built in Mexico with only 10 miles. The first thing I did when I got it home was check for leaks and check the spider-traps. It did not leak and hasn't for the past few months. However, the orange flaps on the end of the spider traps were missing. Either they are not putting them on at the factory or all the dealers know that it may cause blockage and are taking them off.
After 2 years of arguing with dealers and VW the moral of this story is '17 and some '18s have the weld defect ( see https://vwalltrackpanoleak.com/technical-service-bulletin/) but there are other issues as well, with the 17, 18 and 19; possibility of the drain lines being pinched in the rear and possible drain blockage at the spider traps because of the orange flaps on the end of the drain tubes. I don't think most dealers can fix the 17 and some 18s but with care the later model 18s and 19s are fine.

I picked my car up last week at the dealer. They replaced all of my carpets, my headliner and said they fixed the drainage problem. When I asked about the wiring problem (Refer to my previous post) they told me it should be fine now, everything is documented, if I have any further problems we will go after VW. I have been through a car wash and have experienced 2 or 3 heavy rainstorms without incident to this point. However, it did take 1 1/2 years for the problem to present itself in the first place so I am not completely convinced that it will not be a problem again. I have read several forums where 2017 owners have been back to the dealer multiple times for the leak issue. I will keep my fingers crossed until the lease is up.

Well hello! I'm late to the party, and if I had one hint of this problem, I'd be driving a Honda or about anything else. Perhaps this is why Alltrack are be closed out? Bought a 2017 2 years ago, had a few strange but self-resolving issues with the radio/nav, warning lights...suddenly 2 days before Christmas, 4 warning lights just swung up. We're having a fairly wet season here in the Bay Area [CA], but I didn't see it as cause and effect. Took it to the dealer even thought they set reset a day later [cause they DRIED OUT! duh]. That's when the FUCK VOLKSWAGEN began, AGAIN! Dealer 'oh yea, we know about that, you gotta be careful, it's really expensive to fix' ME 'It's a 2 year-old car, WTF?!?!?' Dealer 'hey we'll take care of it, it's under warranty' ME hypertensive emergency, walks around the block. No recall notices, no Service Advisories from VW NA even though EVERYONE SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS WELL DOCUMENTED FLAW!! Is this not Lemon-Law applicable? Our service center had the car for a day and replaced 4 CORRODED wire connectors and some wiring, cleaned the drains. I want them to own the problem and buy it back. Anyone else out there looked into this. I'm a VW loyalist but this is it! Last reliable VW I had was a 74 Squareback. I had a 97 Jetta that leaked like a sieve, and a 2008 GTI that ate it's own wiring harness. Bye-Bye VW

Add me to the list! 2017 Alltrack and I just pumped about 12 gallons of water out of the trunk. Going to the dealer on Thursday and I am at 32K miles so hopefully they cover with warranty. With an active TSB they should address I would hope!

I have been parking on a driveway that slopes up, can that make it worse? I mean no matter what angle I park at my two year old car should not have a trunk full of water, but seems like it never happened until recently when I was parking at angle. We also get so little rain her in California it could just be a coincidence.

That is crazy, but we always park nose down, so maybe if that much water is being collected, it would account for the extent of the electrical damage. I ran our VIN in the VW USA site and there are NO service recall or other advisories. And please don't tell me, VW USA that this problem won't pop-up again, that's pure bullshit. I'm going to have to look into a lemon-law procedure

If no one else was having problems, I might buy this. But with all the problems folks are encountering, it appears to be a design issue and therefore a warranty issue. Tell them your next stop is at the state Attorney General's office.

I’m also a bit confused on why if they are “clogged” they need to replace them. Can’t they just clean them out? I’m sure my insurance will have similar questions...

Well it looks like my insurance is going to cover this, but the insurance adjuster called to see where my car was and I told them the name of the VW dealer and city. The insurance adjuster then said “whoa how weird I was just at the exact same dealer yesterday with this exact problem with a clogged drain on a wagon”. I explained mine was a wagon too and he just shrugged it off as coincidence.
What a scam! VW does shotty work and insurance pays for it. Serious racket! I have a $250 deductible but they are replacing headliner, rear carpet, subwoofer and drain tubes. This seems crazy to me...

I am a little disappointed that VW hasn't came up with some type of fix for this. It is obviously a design flaw due to the number of occurrences, and there should be some type of fix that corrects this so that it is a very isolated issue. I don't believe this is VW's first "panoramic roof", so there is probably some data that indicates it CAN be solved.

Regarding lemon laws, I think you have to have three occurrences before you can start to file a claim. It is after repairs/modification prove to not have solved the problem, then you have circumstances that provide proof that something is indeed wrong with you car.

Work with the dealer on the lemon law aspect, as from a dealer standpoint, they want a happy customer and they have some skin in the game to get VW to buy back your vehicle. I have seen this work well with a Lincoln dealer who had a leaking sunroof that went through re-sealing the sunroof, replacing all the gaskets around the sunroof, and as a last resort, replacing the gaskets AND the sunroof...to no avail. The dealer helped file the paperwork, Lincoln bought the vehicle back.

My 2018 AT started leaking at 7k. Dealership replaced headliner under warranty and told me that it was a blocked drain valve.

Wow sorry to hear all these stories. I had a TDI wagon with the pano roof and loved it. Until it leaked... What a PIA. So many times with a shop vac and hoping for a dry day to have all the windows open and dry it out. By the time the dieselgate buyback came around the thing was starting to get a permanent funk and as much as I loved the car I could not turn away the offer they gave me on the Alltrack. As much as I loved the open air I didn't leave myself open to that hassle the second time around. The best way to unclog the lines were weedeater line and a compressor with a rubber adapter I made for a tight fit. It would work a while and then leak again.

+1. I went through a similar process with my BMW 330e. The service manager was my ally and helped convince BMW to buyback the car without my having to go through the formal lemon law process. Make the Service manager and general manager your friend.

Just got my car back, it was a $3200 insurance fix for my clogged drain. And guess who still has a leak?!?

Can’t wait to head back tomorrow.

$3200 out of your pocket??!??!?? It’s outrageous. VW N/A needs to swallow Diesel-Gate and recall these cars.

Nope $250 deductible and insurance covered the rest. Same insurance company had exact claim for clogged drain the day before. Must have been a coincidence!
