With the arrival of the Subaru WRX STi the performance saloon market was boosted. The car is going head to head with the 2015 Audi S3 and this takes on a different approach as it is more aimed at low key executives.

Both of the vehicles offer 296bhp and the 2015 Audi S3 also offers all-wheel drive transmission which is very sophisticated. If you go for the S3 you are going to have to pay out 4, 250GBP more than what you would pay out for the Subaru.

The styling of the 2015 Audi S3 and the Subaru WRX STi do have totally different approaches. The S3 offers a grille that is platinum and mirrors and the WRX comes with a rear wing that is huge and it has a vent bonnet. The styling of the Audi is the more attractive of the two. The S3 offers Drive Select so that the owner can fine tune the steering, throttle and dampers. The Subaru offers the SI-Drive controller and this allows changing of the aggressiveness of the centre differentials.

You get 70 litres more cargo space with the Subaru WRX STi than you get with the 2015 Audi S3, this is 460 litres. If you have the seats down you get 100cm of boot floor space in length and when folded it is 176cm. There is a load height of 107cm and 7cm clearance under the boot lid of the Audi.

The Audi S3 Saloon has some great looks and it does look like the most expensive of the two. The price tag can be offset by the running costs along with the residual values. The car is cleaner and more comfortable along with being faster than the Subaru WRX STi.

The Subaru WRX STi does offer better grip on the roads and the engine is great sounding. It doesn't offer the efficiency and it doesn?t have the flexibility offered by the Audi engine. Another downside is the cabin that is outdated and the firm ride, however fans of Subaru do snap it up.
